About this tool
Every other tool in Niche Edge measures what you do — which niche you chose, where you show up, what you published, whether the numbers moved. This one measures what other people would say, because that is the only place category ownership exists. You cannot self-assess it. It is a fact about other people’s heads.
It opens with the sentence: I am the only agent in ______ who ______. Then it asks you to name every agent in your market who could truthfully say the same thing. If three of them could, that finding overrides everything else — however well you score, you’re competing inside a category rather than owning one. The fix is almost always narrowing, not working harder. A sentence nobody can copy is a smaller sentence.
The scoring is fifteen statements across five dimensions, and every one is something another person has to do or say. Do people repeat your words? Can a stranger find you? Are you referred by specialty or just by name? Are you asked to explain things? Are you the first call? Nothing about effort, nothing about intent.
Then it asks what a past client would actually say if they referred you — in their words, not yours. Leaving that blank is the most telling answer on the page, and the tool says so.
The last of five Niche Edge tools. The Opportunity Scorecard chooses, the Channel Planner positions, the Authority Map counts the evidence, the 90-Day Tracker measures momentum. This one tells you whether the market agrees.
